Austin, TX // Travel
My husband and I's favorite thing to do together is travel. We love visiting new places and we especially love hiking. Last month we took a weekend trip to Austin, TX and wow did we love it. We ate some great food, did some shopping at some cool local shops, and we even found some cool hiking to get into.
If you are ever in Austin here is our list of things you simply cannot miss:
Food: Freedmen's BBQ - Seriously so good I am getting hungry writing this, get the brisket and the baked beans. Via 313 Pizza - It's kinda like cheesy bread mixed with pizza and it's the greatest thing. Little Lucy's Mini Donuts - A food truck that sells mini donuts what more do I need to say? Family Business Beer Company - A brewery in Dripping Springs, TX that is owned and operated by Jensen and Danneel Ackles and there is a food truck on the property that is owned and operated by Jeb from Duck Dynasty.
Activities: Hike the Barton Creek Greenbelt - This hiking area is just outside of the downtown area of Austin yet you really feel like you've got out of the city. It is so beautiful, the water is such a pretty shade of blue/green, it really is something you gotta go do. Overall I think we hiked about 3 miles to see everything shown in the photos below. Visit South Congress - There are tons of shops lining this street as well as a million restaurants. This is also where you will find the "I love you so much" wall (just look for the line on the corner). MOD CLOTH - I was so excited to find out that Austin is home to the only Modcloth store! You can actually go in and shop and they ship everything directly to you. They don't have everything that they carry online but they have a lot of it. Best part? THEY HAVE ONE THING IN EVERY SIZE. Check it out if you love that site! Uncommon Objects - A quirky thrift store full of bizarre items ranging from a vintage ouija board to a giant rabbit sculpture.
There's so much more that I didn't mention here, these are just the things that we did while we were there. Have something fun to add? Let me know!
